Come on out this Friday, May 2nd and enjoy Downtown First Fridays. This month, there are a number of exciting things happening downtown. You could begin your night at Red Gallery at 5:00 p.m. with a special opening of artwork by Heritage University Students. Then you could head to Burhmaster Bakery and join in on their seasonal beer tasting before going to dinner at one of downtown's fine restaurants. Kana Winery has made their home in the base of the Larson Building for a number of years. ''Kana'' is a native word for the spirit or the fire within a mountain, in reference to the perceived supernatural power of volcanic activity. On their website they explain that ''the Yakima and Columbia Valleys are awash with volcanic soil influences, providing terroir from the millennia of ''Kana'' escaping from nearby volcanic mountains, to lay resting as soil for our world-class vineyards.''
